Wolong Lake now has a very clear vocation as a nature reserve at the local level and there are no longer any functions of agricultural water supply. It is therefore essential to set up a new hydraulic management of the lake that no longer drowns sensitive plant species such as lotuses and bulrush marsh and any other marsh areas essential for the arrival of migratory species. A balance must be struck between the current water level and the water levels in the 2010 baseline year.

The best solution to ensure this regulation to recreate between 1500/2000 Ha required for birds highlights the need to re-establish a hydraulic control dam in the south of the lake. This is the first action to be presented in these preliminary studies.
